Andrew Based in Portland, Andrew Collins is a former staff editor for Fodor's guidebooks and one of the world's most prolific writers about gay and lesbian travel, having created the first GLBT guidebook series for a major publisher (Fodor's, in 1996, for which he won a Lowell Thomas Travel Journalism award in the "best guidebook" category). He currently produces all content for the New York Times-owned travel site gaytravel.about.com, a member of the enormously popular About.com family.

Also, since the early '90s, Collins has written about travel for numerous mainstream and GLBT publications, including Travel + Leisure, FoxNews.com, New Mexico Magazine, The Advocate, Out Magazine, Moon Travel Handbooks, and Zagat guides.

Collins also teaches travel writing and editing for New York City's Gotham Writers' Workshop. His hobbies include cooking, photography, hiking, skiing, jogging, and kayaking.
