Harry Dalgaard was born in Oslo, Norway. For his early education, he attended international schools in Europe. Dalgaard received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business at the University of Oregon in 1973 and Masters of Business at the University of Texas in 1976.
He has extensive experience in the travel industry at both the retail and wholesale levels. Dalgaard started in Reservation Sales with American Airlines - and later became Operations Manager at Kneisel/Green Carpet Tours, a retail travel agency in Portland, Oregon. This assignment was followed by employment at National-International Travel, a wholesale tour operator, where he was named the company’s General Manager.
Dalgaard founded Avanti Destinations, a wholesale tour operator, in 1981, which has grown to become a national leader in providing authentic independent (FIT) vacations to Europe and Latin America.
Dalgaard's current travel industry leadership positions include membership on the Board Directors of USTOA and the Advisory Board of French Government Tourist Office – Maison de la France.
