Photo Diary: Public Transit
When visiting Tokyo, Amsterdam and Portland, each city has an extensive public transportation system to assist your traveling needs. The Tokyo Metro system, or Toei, is one of the most intricate in the world. With over 13 lines, the Toei transports an estimated 2.8 billion people per year. Portland’s transit authority, TriMet offers lightrail, bus and streetcar services throughout the city and its suburban areas. While Portland ranks as the 29th largest city in the United States, its public transportation system surpasses many of the country’s larger cities. Known for its eco-friendly culture, Amsterdam is no stranger to public transportation. The cities’ public officials strongly encourage the use of bicycles or the GVB Amsterdam’s metro, tram and bus networks as opposed to driving within the city limits.
