Flying the Good Flight: The Governor’s 2010 Asia Trade Mission

Bill Wyatt took flight Saturday May 15 for the Governor's Asia Trade Mission in Japan, China, and South Korea.
While attending the Governor’s 2010 Asia Trade Mission in Japan, China and South Korea, Port of Portland‘s Executive Director Bill Wyatt will be documenting his travels and sharing valuable observations from the Mission. This is the first post of his blog series.
Saturday, May 17:
I’m on board Delta Flight #91 on the way to Osaka for the first leg of the Governor’s 2010 Asia Trade Mission. I’m seated next to a professor from Oregon State who is involved with the recruiting of foreign students to OSU (this is an export, if you think about it). On the other side is a senior executive with Great Western Malting in Vancouver who ships hops to the beer producers in Japan. Next to him is an American who lives in Seoul and sells medical devices. Also on board are lots of Nike employees and a fairly large number of Asian nationals. The flight is completely full…a good omen.
